Arsenal are confident of completing a deal for Denis Suarez after a successful round of talks with Barcelona.
Unai Emery is willing to add the midfielder to his squad this month, but the Gunners have limited funds to spend and are being forced to look at loan moves.
That’s complicated negotiations with Barcelona who would prefer the deal to be permanent. A move looked in doubt last week, but the Mirror reports that the Premier League giants now sense a breakthrough after encouraging talks with the Catalan giants.
Arsenal are hopeful of agreeing a loan move for the rest of the season with an option to buy in the next transfer window for around £18 million.
Denis Suarez is understood to be willing to return to England, having spent two years at Manchester City in his youth.
Part of the reason that the Gunners are unable to make permanent signings this month was their record outlay in 2018.
The club spent big on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and handed huge wages to Mesut Ozil, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Unai Emery is desperate to sell Mesut Ozil this month, but his £300,000-a-week wages are proving a stumbling block and the club are working to reduce his wages.
