Danny Welbeck says he is determined to do all he can to fight his way into Unai Emery's first-team plans at Arsenal.
Welbeck was heavily linked with a move away from the Gunners in the summer but a deal did not materialise and he is now ready to stake a claim for a place in the side. Welbeck also went to the World Cup in the summer and was back on England duty when seeing a late equalising goal ruled out in Saturday's 2-1 defeat against Spain. There has been a suggestion he will start when the Three Lions take on Switzerland on Tuesday night and a good performance would no doubt catch the eye of Emery. Welbeck will have to battle with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his place, but is ready to give it a good go. “Obviously, I started a bit late, coming back from the World Cup and then getting back to pre-season a bit later than others. But a lot of people have been through that.” “Whenever I get on the pitch, I’ve trained hard, I’m just going to give it my all and try to stake a place.”
