Unai Emery has urge midfielder Mesut Özil to step up his game and be strong on the pitch. The new boss who came in to replace Arsene Wenger won't entertain laziness on the field of play as seen against Chelsea when he subbed off the Germany midfielder.
Mesut Özil signed a new contract with the club in January giving Arsenal the assurance of staying beyond this season but the coach insisted that Özil need to play good football as he has been doing before if he want to earn a starting line-up under his leadership.
Ozil was absent during the recent 3-1 league win over West Ham United whereby some reports suggested that there had been a training ground rift between him and the manager.
Emery has since refuted those claims by claiming that the World Cup winner was only ill and was excluded from the matchday squad under the recommendation of the club's medical team.
