Arsene Wenger offering player plus money to land former Man United star

Arsenal have submitted an offer of £10million plus Mathieu Debuchy as they aim to complete the signing of Jonny Evans from West Brom, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger has sanctioned the sales of Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez already this month but gained Henrikh Mkhitaryan in return from Manchester United.

The Arsenal manager is keen to strengthen his attack further with the addition of Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and bolster his defence.

The struggling Baggies are reluctant to sell former Manchester United title-winner Evans, but could lose the Northern Ireland international for as little as £3million in the summer should they lose their relegation battle.
Evans had been targeted by Manchester City, but the Premier League leaders have dropped their interest having switched their attentions to France international Aymeric Laporte.

Arsenal club captain Per Mertesacker is due to resign at the end of the season to take up a position heading the north London club’s academy, while Laurent Koscielny’s Achilles’ problem has seen him miss critical fixtures this season.
Debuchy joined the Gunners in 2014 but a series of injuries, coupled with the emergence of Hector Bellerin, has seen the former Newcastle star struggle to win a regular place in Wenger’s strongest XI.

Should Debuchy complete a move to the Hawthorns, he would be reunited with Kieran Gibbs who joined Albion from the Gunners in the summer?
