Former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell has nothing but praises for Unai Emery, he believes the Spanish manager is doing a good job but needs time, according to talkSPORT.
The legendary center back who was a key member of the Invincibles took his first managerial job with Macclesfield Town in November.
He has admitted that his experience of inheriting a random squad with Macclesfield has been hard and he now empathizes with Emery.
In a recent exclusive interview with talkSPORT, the former England defender who also played for Tottenham claimed that Emery has performed well so far in his reign at the club but must be given at least two or three transfer windows to build his own team.
“I think [Unai Emery] has done a really good job so far”, he said.
“Like me, he’s come into a side and inherited all the players and that’s tough because they’re really top heavy now.
“There’s not much room in the coffer to get new players in and you might have to move players on to get players in – and I know myself, it’s hard.
“You have that tussle, that tug of war and then you have to get a team together to play football, challenge and be competitive. So he’s got that to deal with.
“It’s probably going to take two three transfer windows before he gets a team that’s him.”
He however admitted that Arsenal are not quite where they should be, and insisted that Emery must inspire them to perform well even if it isn’t the squad he’d want.
“He’s got to inspire the players, even though they’re probably not the players he would like. But that’s football and you have to get on with it.
“He’s done a really good job, he’s stable, they’ve won games. They’re not where they could be but under all the pressure he’s done really well.”
