The North London side slipped to a 1 - 0 defeat in the hands of BATE Barisov with the lone goal coming in the first half of the game through Stanislav Dragun's header ending their run of five successive clean sheets in the competition.
Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette added to Arsenal's problem with just few minutes to the end of the game by earning himself a straight red card for throwing an elbow at Aleksandar Filipovic after the player tried to pull Lacazette down.
The Frenchman meanwhile has already has an equalizer ruled out due to offside ⛳. Lacazette will miss the return leg at the Emirates Stadium next Thursday but will be available if Arsenal happen to qualify for round of 16 which will require a lot of work.
