Former Newcastle United star, Shola Ameobi has suggested that playing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as center forward would help improve Arsenal’s recent poor form, according to Goal.

29-year-old Gabonese striker has been playing from the flanks for most part of this season under Emery as he tries to accommodate Lacazette in the starting lineup, and Ameobi believes he would be more effective through the middle.
Supporting his claims is the fact that Aubameyang has not been able to make significant impact from the wings this season and has only scored 3 of his 18 goals this season from the flank.
In his interview with BBC radio on 5 live football daily podcast he said:
“it’s gonna be very hard for Aubameyang because he is a number 9. He wants to be the end like Aguero and when he is pushed to the side, pushed to the wings, I don’t think he’s as comfortable out there as maybe {Alexandre} Lacazette. So, it’s very hard for Arsenal to maintain any type of pressure when you are playing a certain number 9 out on the wing”.
Aubameyang joined Arsenal in February 2018, he has made 34 appearances and scored a total of 24 goals this season. It is hoped that the Gabon international will help the Gunners get back to winning ways when they take on Huddersfield town on Saturday.
The Gunners are currently on a poor run, having lost three of their last five games with the 3-1 loss against Manchester City last weekend seeing them drop to sixth position.
