Arsenal attempt to sign French Defender failed

Arsenal have failed with an attempt to sign Napoli defender Kevin Malcuit after it was revealed that Hector Bellerin would miss the entire season because of the injury.

The Gunners have made their interest known with an approach for the 27-year-old defender whose agent hinted at a possible move to the British capital before the transfer deadline.

However, France Football claims Premier League side’s move for the full-back was immediately rebuffed, and Arsenal will have to look elsewhere for cover.

The report adds that Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis swiftly shut Arsenal down when they asked about Malcuit.

Kevin Malcuit is beginning to nail down as a spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven at Napoli after fighting off stiff competition from Elseid Hysaj and Nikola Maksimovic.

Bruno Satin, Malcuit’s agent, confirmed that there had been interest from the Premier League: ‘There’s a London club who are looking for a right-back. They asked about Kevin, but there’s no question of him leaving Napoli,’ Satin told Radio CRC ‘Arsenal? It could be them, but not necessarily. He’s happy with Ancelotti and in Naples.’
