Carrasco would like to play at the Emirates but Arsenal have a low budget

Arsenal ‘offered’ Yannick Carrasco

Yannick Carrasco

Kristof Terreur, the Belgian journalist who works for Het Laatste Nieuws, has confirmed on Wednesday morning that Arsenal have been offered Yannick Carrasco.

There are four major points underlying this possible deal.

Firstly, it’s reported that Arsenal are indeed in the market for a winger this January.

Secondly, if Yannick Carrasco intends to leave his current club Dalian Yifang in China for Arsenal, the Belgian will need to take a pay-cut.

At the same time, it’s confirmed that Arsenal only have a “a limited transfer budget.”

Finally, Kristof Terreur stresses that Carrasco, who is just 25, wants to leave the Chinese Super League after just one season with Dalian.

Do Arsenal really need Carrasco?

Some Arsenal fans may be questioning why their club are interested in Carrasco.

Don’t Arsenal already have plenty of options in wide areas?

Specifically, Carrasco is often deployed on the left wing.

Arsenal have the likes of Alex Iwobi who can operate in that position. While, Unai Emery has often played with wing-backs this season, and Sead Kolasinac has performed well down the left-hand channel.

Does Carrasco have better defensive abilities than Kolasinac?
