DONE: Sky Sports confirms Arsenal's first January signing

Sky Spots reporter Dharmesh Sheth has revealed Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Denis Suarez from Barcelona, according to The Express.

Unai Emery’s side are looking to strengthen their ranks this January as they embark on the second half of their battle for a top four spot this season.

With the possible departure of midfielder Aaron Ramsey this January following talks with Juventus, the North London side have been looking to bolster their midfield.

Ever Banega had previously been mentioned as a potential replacement for Ramsey. However, Denis Suarez has now entered the picture.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old in recent days and Sheth has revealed that the deal is close.

“As for arrivals at the Emirates,” he said on the Sky Sports Transfer Centre.

“What a signing this could be. Sky in Italy claim Barcelona winger Denis Suarez is close to joining.

“Arsenal boss Unai Emery indicated at the weekend that the club are after a player who could operate on the right or left wing and he’s worked with Suarez before. The player spent a season on loan at Sevilla in 2014 when Emery was in charge.

“Interestingly Suarez travelled for yesterday’s game with Getafe but he didn’t make Barcelona’s 18-man squad.”

Sheth also revealed Aaron Ramsey is finalizing details of his move to Juventus.

“His departure is getting closer,” he said

“The final details being sorted on a pre-contract agreement that would see him go to Juventus in the summer.

“Remember that Ramsey has entered the final six months of his contract at Arsenal.”
