Stephen Leichsteiner speaks up on his situation at Arsenal

Arsenal new signing, Stephan Lichtsteiner has reacted to claims over his situation at the North London club since his free transfer from Juventus.


Unai Emery is yet to start the Switzerland international in the premier league and has only been given just one appearance from the bench.

Lichtsteiner played a major role in Juventus success, and was a key player for them, but reports also indicated that his currently struggling to get normal playing time at the Emirates club.

The Switzerland playmaker recently said he doesn’t feel like his ready to retire, claiming he has a good physical condition of a 28 year old player.

His recent remarks about his good physical condition has however not earned him his normal starting position at Arsenal, while he also concede that part of the main reason he signed for the club is to compete for his place with Hector Bellerin at the right back.

According to Daily Mail, Leichtsteiner claimed that he could have signed for five or six other clubs in the summer, but decided to play under coach Unai Emery.

Thou, I also wanted to play in a more competitive league, I wanted a new challenge.

Meanwhile, it is yet uncertain if Unai Emery will start the defender when the team get back to action after the international break on Saturday.
