Arsene Wenger has hailed the impact of club record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, despite the striker less than a week old at the club.
Aubameyang joined Arsenal on Wednesday’s deadline day for a club record £56m fee. The striker was immediately thrown into the starting xi against Everton despite being ill before the game.
The striker didn’t disappoint as he opened his account in the 5-1 win over Everton, with a well taken goal which was possible because of his intelligent movement and Wenger was full of praises for his new signing, stating he
is a bargain in the current transfer market.
Wenger admitted: ‘I believe for that quality of striker in today’s market it is a reasonable price.
‘The quality of his movement was excellent. The quality of his finishing looks excellent. And he is not completely at his best physically and still has work to do.’
Auba wasn’t the only debutant that impressed on Sunday, with Mkhitaryan who made his first full debut in an Arsenal shirt grabbing three assists.
The former Manchester United midfielder struck a superb understanding with Aubameyang and the other players from the start and his convincing performance shows that we’ve got a player on our hands.
Auba and Mkhi does have the quality to take Arsenal to the next level and I am confident they’ll be crucial in our quest to finish in the top four this season.
