Arsene Wenger has hinted that Arsenal are ready to bring in some reinforcements in the January transfer window.
The Gunners have been in stuttering form in recent weeks after they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest in the third round for the first time under Wenger.
The north London side also suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon as they lost further ground in the race for a top-four finish.
Indeed, Wenger’s men are now in sixth place in the table and eight points behind fourth-placed Liverpool FC to leave their hopes of securing Champions League qualification looking bleak.
Arsenal have inevitably been linked with a host of players in recent weeks, especially given the uncertainty around Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s futures at the club.
And the Frenchman has now confirmed that he does indeed plan to dip into the transfer market if possible this month.
Speaking at his post-match news conference after the loss to Bournemouth, Wenger said: “We cannot let the players go and not strengthen our squad. We have seen that today.
“It’s important that first of all, we get the players who are injured back and as well that we get some more offensive power in.”
Arsenal now switch their attentions towards preparing for their home clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners will then host Chelsea in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final next week.
